By using sum.md you agree to these terms. They apply to all access methods — web app, CLI, browser extension, MCP server, and API.

Scope of Service

sum.md is a personal knowledge base that captures, summarizes, and delivers content as context to AI agents. It is provided for individual use and accessed through the following surfaces:

Account Responsibility

You are responsible for all activity under your account, including safeguarding API keys and OAuth tokens. Do not share credentials. If you suspect unauthorized access, revoke affected tokens immediately from the Settings page.

Ownership & License

You retain ownership of all content you save. By using sum.md, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process that content for the sole purpose of delivering the service — including generating summaries, tags, and embeddings.

sum.md retrieves content from publicly accessible web pages on your behalf. You are responsible for ensuring your use of saved content complies with the source's terms and applicable law.

Prohibited Conduct

You may not use sum.md to:

Service Warranty

sum.md is provided "as is." We make no guarantees of uptime, data durability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We recommend maintaining independent backups of critical content. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the fees paid in the three months preceding the claim.

Account Closure

You may close your account at any time; upon closure all your data is permanently deleted from our systems. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where the severity of the violation permits.

Amendments

We may revise these terms at any time. The updated date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of sum.md after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
